Insitu Soil Mixing
In situ soil mixing is a ground improvement technique used to increase strength and decrease settlement and permeability of soft soils. Compared with other ground improvement techniques, a key benefit of soil mixing is that the improvement takes place within hours / days rather than weeks / months. For example, a very soft marine mud that is barely passable by pedestrians can be transformed into a heavy vehicle roadway within 24 to 48 hours

There are two processes available for in-situ soil mixing. Mass Soil Mixing (MSM) is used to treat soils to 7m depth and Deep Soil Mixing (DSM) is used to treat soils to 30m depth. In both cases the binding agent is either a cementitious power (Dry Mixing) or pre-mixed cementitious grout (Wet Mixing). The cementitious agents include cement, fly ash and slag. Environmental binders are also available.
